Government Will Encourage Solarization Across the Country, Energy Ministry
Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari has said that the government is determined to encourage solarisation. Discouragement of net metering connection holders shall not be encouraged. In an interview to a private channel, he said that people should not listen to hearsay and social media propaganda. Meanwhile, according to the sources of the electricity companies, the proposal to allow net metering connection holders to use 50 to 70 percent of the electricity of the discos is under consideration.
IESCO Tops in Low Line Losses, PESCO Tops in Highest Line Losses
Among the electricity distribution companies in Pakistan, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has been declared the best in terms of performance, while Peshawar Electric Supply Company has the most line losses. Appointment of FIA, Intelligence Officers in DISCOS, Summary Sent to PM
The government has decided to appoint FIA and intelligence officers in electricity distribution companies. The Prime Minister has issued instructions to appoint FIA and Intelligence officers to the Power Division. It has been directed to appoint permanent Deputy Director FIA in electricity distribution companies while it has been decided to remove directors appointed on political grounds in the board of electricity companies. The FIA Deputy Director will prepare the case against the corrupt officers of the distribution companies while the Additional Director General will coordinate and monitor at the FIA HQ level. The Power Division has started action on the orders after which the cordon has tightened against the corrupt officers.

Summary for the appointment of new Boards of Directors in Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) has been sent to the Federal Cabinet. According to the report, the federal cabinet will take a decision regarding the dissolution and restructuring of the boards of electricity distribution companies. Sources say that the summary of appointing the board of directors of 8 discos has been sent to the federal cabinet, according to the sources Islamabad Electric Supply Company (ISCO), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Tribal Area Electric Supply Company ( Tesco), new appointments will be made in the boards of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO). Sources said that the summary of new appointment has also been sent to the boards of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO) and Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO). Sources say that the selection of members in the new board has been done on a very professional basis, it is proposed to dissolve the boards of 8 electricity distribution companies and form new boards, the decision regarding the dissolution and formation of the boards will be taken by the federal cabinet.
