GEPCO Requests PITC to Restore Free Electricity Supply Facility for Upgraded Employees

Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has officially issued a directive requesting the Power Information Technology Company (PITC) to restore the free electricity units facility for specific upgraded employees.

The letter, issued by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer / Chief People Officer of GEPCO Gujranwala (Letter No. 16190–92 / GA-179, dated 25/08/2026), addresses the status of employees whose substantive scale is BPS-15/16 but who have been upgraded to BPS-17/18 under time scale upgradation policies.

  1. Subject:

    • Restoration of Free Supply Units Facility to GEPCO Employees Whose Substantive Pay Scale is BPS-15/16 but They Are Upgraded in BPS-17/18.

  2. Committee Recommendations: A dedicated committee (constituted via office order No. 2426/102358-66 dated 30-06-2026) was assigned to evaluate the admissibility of benefits for upgraded officials in accordance with Finance Division rules and regulatory guidelines.

    The committee unanimously endorsed the following recommendation:

    "The officials upgraded in BPS-17/18 having regular scale as BPS-15/16 may be allowed to avail free supply of units facility being Non-gazetted officials entitlement as per time scale upgradation policy."

  3. Directive to PITC: Based on the committee’s findings and with the formal approval of the Chief Executive Officer, GEPCO, the management has requested PITC (Lahore) to restore the free electricity units facility for the eligible employees as per their Non-Gazetted status entitlement.

What This Means for GEPCO Employees

This step brings major relief to non-gazetted employees who were upgraded to higher pay scales (BPS-17/18) through time scale promotion but faced issues regarding the continuity of their free electricity allowance. With this request now formally conveyed to PITC, the billing/IT system will be updated to reflect and restore their entitled free electricity units.
