The government will encourage solarization across the country, said Energy Minister Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari has said that the government is determined to encourage solarisation. Discouragement of net metering connection holders shall not be encouraged. In an interview to a private channel, he said that people should not listen to hearsay and social media propaganda. Meanwhile, according to the sources of the electricity companies, the proposal to allow net metering connection holders to use 50 to 70 percent of the electricity of the discos is under consideration.

The Prime Minister has issued instructions to appoint FIA and Intelligence officers to the Power Division. It has been directed to appoint permanent Deputy Director FIA in electricity distribution companies while it has been decided to remove directors appointed on political grounds in the board of electricity companies. The FIA Deputy Director will prepare the case against the corrupt officers of the distribution companies while the Additional Director General will coordinate and monitor at the FIA HQ level. The Power Division has started action on the orders after which the cordon has tightened against the corrupt officers.

What is the difference between net metering and gross metering? News is circulating in the Pakistani media that the government is considering a plan to end net metering and introduce a gross metering policy for solar panel users. According to reports, the government has also informed the IMF about the new gross metering policy and the reason for introducing this policy is to overcome the electricity price crisis in the country.
